COMPANY PROFILE AND OVERVIEW Globenet Technologies is a leading software vendor providing robust compensation management and Enterprise Incentive Management Systems (EIM). Globenet was founded in 1993 and over the years has serviced customers in the Direct Selling Industry and its software has been used to run the compensation for hundreds of thousands to millions of representatives. Over the years the product has evolved to meet the needs of enterprises in the financial and insurance verticals. BUSINESS SITUATION AND CHALLENGES Globenet had been awarded a multi-million dollar contract which involved the porting of its entire client server application built on VB and ASP to the .NET framework. The legacy application had over a million lines of code. In addition to creating a baseline version of the application a customized version which incorporated the various business and processing rules for the new client had to be built. The timing of the delivery was critical as the application would be used to run the compensation of the entire agency as a result there were significant penalty clauses for delays.
- Globenet had resources distributed in various locations ‘ California, Detroit, Phoenix and Mexico City.
- Globenet had to increase its technical and support resource pool in a short duration of time and more importantly for a short duration of time.
- Deal with the shortage of development talent who was well versed on both the newer and older technologies
- It had to mature and improve its Software Development Processes to be able to deal with the magnitude of the project and multiple versions of the code base
IOTAP’s ROLE IOTAP was chosen as the application development outsourcing vendor and was given the difficult task of building a team that had legacy skills and had already ported an application to the newer frameworks, define a development methodology and increase the window of development time and lower costs.
SOLUTION AND BENEFITS Global delivery:
- By getting IOTAP on board the client was able to change its Software Delivery Model. IOTAP was able to set up a process that integrated the architectural team in Detroit, Customer Management team in California, Development team in Bombay and QA team in Phoenix.

- Mature processes and delivery mechanisms: Over the course of the engagement the processes were fine tuned to meet the current demands. Processes for source control, project management, expectation setting, reporting, code quality were evolved. This allowed the disparate teams to work as a cohesive unit and the quality of deliverables was a 100 percent.
- Increased throughput and improved productivity: The different time zones allow the customer to increase the window of development (Follow-the-Sun development) and shorten the time to delivery. This has made the customer more competitive as compared to other Service Providers who don’t have an offshore delivery team.
